“A great intro to Fado.”

We enjoyed our evening. The most difficult part was finding the place. Everything was very good. We contacted them by email and received a reply the next day. Very crowded, but otherwise, a nice experience.

“Musicianship Drama Passion Food Wine”
Reviewed October 17, 2014
Well actually I had three small beers, but most others drank wine. I dropped by Esquina de Alfama during the afternoon, just passing. Received warmly and invited to return at 8 pm when they would open with a fado performance. Glad I did.
Five fadistas performing solo and in concert with Portuguese Guitarra (12 strings) and classical guitar (7 fado performers). The musicianship alone was highly accomplished, I would say. But then the passion and the drama of the fadistas as they sing to, and of, each other with musical accompaniment, causes ones own emotions to modulate with their telling. I endorse all of the positive comments made in previous reviews. I ate a large fresh salmon steak, with potatoes, salad garnish, and three bottles of beer and paid €25. For this modest sum I had all my senses touched, and sensibilities reaffirmed. I visit Lisbon about three times a year, and plan to stay in Alfama for my next visit. Imagine having Esquina de Alfama on the next corner to your room or apartment. Garry
